Following on from the London based series, series two looked at the pressure faced by the West Midlands Ambulance Service. We doubled the number of rigged ambulances to eight and as the senior PD, I led the filming in the control room where the call takers and dispatchers work to handle 3,000 emergency calls a day.
The episode in the series I edit produced focused on the collapse of the social care system in the UK and the effect on the ambulance service. With over 1,000 carers quitting a day in England last year, the ambulance service has been forced to step in and fill the gap, putting unsustainable pressure on the teams.
