Inspired by the American hit Flint Town, the BBC series Cops Like Us looked at the present-day crisis in Staffordshire Police funding and public services across the county.
Hardened veteran Staffordshire police officers were brought to tears remembering Stoke when it was a town that had a thriving potteries industry and the people who lived there had work and a sense of pride in their community. The cops described struggling mentally with a broken service and what often feels like a broken population. Emergency response teams trying to combat a backlog of cases, and rise in gang culture, hate crime and domestic violence. A candid and painful series about one of the UK’s most deprived cities.
I was brought in during the edit to lead all master interviews and help establish a style for the series. Edit produced programme one in the series.
