Keeping Britain Alive

BBC2, 2013

Capturing a single day in the NHS, filmed by over 100 camera crews spread across the country. In just this one day, 1300 people will die, 2000 will be born and 1.5 million will be treated.

I spent months working with multiple health trusts and patients to film an entire series on just one day. One of only five directors to actually cut an episode in the series, I was also the lead producer for the London-based stories in the series, setting up eight stories for other directors and filming one of the stories myself. An incredible and crazy series no one has dared to try and repeat.

‘An amazing operation, with major challenges… It’s impossible to really complete a portrait of today’s NHS, but this will probably get closer than anything before. An extraordinarily bold project.’

Sam Wollaston, The Guardian

‘A beautifully constructed series…. Yesterday the series was at its best.’

Andrew Billen review of on Ep 8 in The Times.
